How to Give : Capital Campaign
All of us are forever being urged to contribute to worthy causes. And we do because we can. But
those that touch the heart, and most satisfy are those that benefit children - especially
children we love. Fox River Country Day School is one of those causes.
Our current capital campaign is called “An Agenda for New Beginnings.” It is a $4.3 million
building project that resulted in a new, 20,000 square foot lower school building. The new building
opened January 2006.

Our new 20,000 square foot building replaced Hoxie House on the crest of the east hillside overlooking the campus
green. The design plays off the architectural themes of the Main Building and Dining Hall, two buildings designed by John
van Bergen, a well-known student of Frank Lloyd Wright. The building includes 13 classrooms, accomodating
pre-school through Grade 4, with the possibility of adding a 5th grade wing at a future date. The Lower School classrooms
surround a large, central, naturally lit Commons that creates a crossroads for meetings and activities. The community gathers
around the central hearth in a warm and expansive setting at the heart of the school. The design of the building is meant to echo a child’s gentle transition from family learning to a community of learners that reinforces the values and character
development central to the school’s mission.
The building was designed by Mark B. Thompson Associates, an established firm with deep experience in the field of school design.

Currently we are in the midst of the capital campaign to help pay for this new building. If you’d like to contribute, please
