Parents' Support Association
President: Julie Kelgard
The goal of the Parents’ Support Association (PSA) is to arrange programs
and activities to support our children and create a solid community spirit,
while providing both financial support and cultural enrichment to the school.
All Fox River Country Day School parents and guardians are members of the Parents’
Support Association.
The PSA office and mailbox are located downstairs in the Main Building. Please
feel free to stop in and learn how you can volunteer on a PSA committee. The
Advancement Office provides support for the Fox River Country Day School Parents’
Support Association and its committees, as well as support for PSA special events
and fundraisers.
The Parents’ Support Association meets monthly to plan educational, social
and fundraising events for the school. All Fox River Country Day parents and
guardians are encouraged to participate in these meetings.
Room Parents [top]
Room parents perform several roles. For the Parents’ Support Association,
they represent their class at its monthly meetings, providing the communication
link between parents and the PSA. For the classroom, they work at the request
of the teacher, along with other parents, providing assistance with holiday
parties, field trips, in-school projects, and a variety of other events.
Parents volunteer to be Room Parents via the PSA volunteer Questionnaire. The
number of Room Parents per grade is determined by class size and teacher needs.
Weekly Update [top]
On Fridays students bring home a Friday Folder. In addition to classroom information,
and student work, you will find a Weekly Update in which all events that take
place at Fox River Country Day School, including athletic, social, dramatic,
academic, and PSA events are listed and described. It may be used to update
parents’ calendars and keep track of children’s activities. It is
vital that parents take time to look through these folders every week. They
are a key link between school and home.
On-Going PSA Activities [top]
The following are samples of the activities that require volunteer involvement
throughout the year. Parents interested in participating in any of these projects
should contact the Room Parent or the PSA president.
Admissions
This committee helps support the Admissions Office with Open Houses on and off
campus and tours of the campus with prospective families.
Arts Council
The Arts Council arranges for culture events to be held at school. The council
previews possible events and works with the school administration to identify
new programs. All parents are encouraged to attend these wonderful events. Watch
the Update for details.
Library & Literacy
This committee helps promote reading and literature by organizing book sales,
reading to children, and offering creative support to the library.
Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day
This committee provides a special thank you in the fall and/or spring for the
faculty and staff to thank them for all they do for our children.
Ice Cream Social
On the first day of school, the PSA hosts a reception to welcome parents of
children new to the school and parents of returning children.
Gift Wrap Sale
In September, the PSA makes available a beautiful selection of holiday and year-round

fundraiser.

in October for family fun, entertainment, food, and celebration.
