Dress Code
Pre-School--Grade 2:
Clothing should be sturdy, washable, safe, and easy for children to put on and
take off with little or no help. Children often bundle up to walk outside to the
gym or Dining Hall. Sandals, clogs, and thongs are not allowed; they do not provide
proper protection or support for an active day. All clothing, including and especially
all winter wear, should be clearly marked with your child’s full name. Clothing
and supplies for dozens of children all look alike, and we want you to see them
again!
Grades 3-8:
The purpose of our dress code is to establish and maintain an appropriate educational
environment that encourages students to perform well, conduct themselves properly,
and feel confident in themselves. The general rule is that students’ clothing
should be clean, neat, well fitting, and appropriate for the occasion. Mindful
of the range of individual taste, the following may prove helpful as examples
of clothing that are NOT within dress code:
- Tank tops
- Jersey’s with spaghetti straps
- Visible underwear
- Cropped blouses/tops (displaying the navel)
- Low riders
- Mini-skirts
- Sports shorts
- Sweat pants for athletics
- Jeans (except on “Jeans Day’)
- Camouflage clothing
- Cut-offs
Dress-up Day
Specific days each month will be designated as “Dress-Up day for all middle
school students. On those days, boys are required to wear a coat and tie (or
other similarly special clothing). Girls are required to wear dresses or skirts
with nice blouses or sweaters. Dress slacks for girls are allowed when the weather
turns colder.
For some special field trips or other special occasions on campus, students
may also be asked to dress-up.
Jeans Day
Jeans Day will be each Friday. Students are permitted to wear blue jeans or
overalls to school. Jeans must be clean, neat, not faded or worn through, and
must fit appropriately.
